End of term reflection

This term we have been up to a lot of things like PrEP, wearable arts and more. PrEP and wearable arts were probably my favourite about this term as well because they were the only really big things that we did. This term I was very proud of making $1347 for PrEP with the float of $100. Next term my goal is to be up to the standerd that you should be up to for a year 9. Here are some photos from this term. 

PrEP

This week and last week we have had PrEP in our school we have a thing called PrEP each year. PrEP is an accation that we do each year for the hole school to join in with. You start off with making a group and finding out what you want to make you can make up to 2 things in your group. You start off with $300 and you have to buy all of the products for what you are going to make. You also get paid for being at school and making your product but if you are away you don't get paid. There are also responsibility's that people in the group have like the CEO, the secretary, and the treasurer, if you have more team mates you also have workers. Every worker in the group have to work to make the product. There are mini market and big market where you sell the product that you have made. You also get fake money that you get paid with. That is mostly all that PrEP does for our school and what we do with it. My group made Bohemian wall hangers and stickers. Here is our product.

Zoos are harmful

This week we have been working on arguments.
We had to do an argument on recycling first and next we had to do an
argument on video gaming and whether we thing its harmful or harmless.
Once we had done that we had to write our own argument.
I wrote me argument on Zoos are harmful below.

Zoos are harmful.

Zoos are places where people put animals up for display.
They have zoos to show people animals that they might not be able to go
and see everyday. So they put them into a zoo so people can see them and
be safe. Sometimes zoos let you hold snakes,lizards,koala's and heaps more.
You can do to loads of different zoos like normal zoos, aquarium, zoos,
children's zoos, and heaps more. I believe zoos are harmful for the following
reasons.

Firstly zoos are harmful. Zoos can be harmful in many different ways some
zoos are not good in different countries they may hurt the animals which
is definitely bad for them. Other zoos keep animals in tight small places or
away from their other family. Animals need to be with their family so they
feel like they are at home. Other animals don't need to be with there family.
I think that they should not be kept in a small place because it could be
harmful.

Secondly zoos are like jail for animals. Zoos are like animal prison they
keep animals in a place where they are not free to live their normal life.
They are put into cages and then put into a place they cannot get out of
just like prisons. Even at some of the best zoos they are still kept in a cage
and cannot go free. 

Lastly zoos can treat animals the breading machines. There are many
zoos that make animals breed like they are machines which is not fair
for the animals. If animals wanted to breed they would but people make
them and it is not fair. For example Animal Adventure Park treated April
the giraffe like a breeding machine. It's not fair for animals anywhere
around the world.

I strongly believe that zoos are bad for animals,as they are harmful,like jail,
and treat them like breeding machines. I hope you now realise the wrongs
about zoos.

Number Sequence DLO

This week we have been working on making Number Sequences in maths this is my Number Sequence. I found this task pretty easy to figure out and I think it would be easy for you if you don't know too.

Amazon Fires

This year there have been 72,843 deadly fires in the Amazon rain forest. That is a nearly 80 percent jump compared to the number of fires the country experienced over the same time period in 2018. That means that there has been a load more fires then last year which is pretty bad.

Arts

This week we had to finish our calendar art for our calendar art we made a design on aboriginal art. We had to get a stencil there was once shaped as a boomerang, a kangaroo, a snake, a lizard, and small snake and lizard. I chose to do a boomerang and a small lizard for my art. We had to do a practice one on a small peace of paper with our cotton buds and paint. After we had finished our practice one we had to do our one that was going up in the hall. Once we have done that we had to make our real one for our calendar art here is my one to go into the hall.

Enlargements

This week in maths we have had to chose a type of maths to do and find out the art involved and heaps more. I chose enlargements to do for maths and we had to make a DLO for the thing we chose. After have had done our DLO we then had to make our outlines for our art and then after we had to either pastel it or colour it with coloured pencils.

Transformation Puzzle

This week we were doing tasks around recognising and representing transformations. I have made a challenge that I would like for you to try and figure out ! You can figure it out by reading the picture below and following what it says .

This week we also tried out this new game about transformation. We used the game to learn how to get other images into the right square like above. Here is the link to this game. HERE I got up to level 14 what level can you get up too? 

Recycling

This week in writing we have been working on writing a persuasive text about Recycling we did this in groups of two here is our writing .

Recycling is something that has already been used for something else and
made into something new.

There are many products that can be recycled such as glass, paper ,
Some Plastics, And also some Fabrics.

This is a worldwide problem and everyone should be thinking about this
problem before it gets out of hand..

Everyone in the world must recycling before it's too late.

Firstly recycling conserves resources .

Recycling often saves natural resources through conversation by using
materials more than once. Making a ton of paper from recycled stock saves
up to 17 trees and uses 50% less water. For example we could recycle the
paper that we use everyday so we can save more of the trees.

Recycling saves energy.

Everyday we could be saving energy by the products being recycled like
paper, plastic, metal, etc . If we recycle it will be saving energy it will
require much less processing to turn them into usable material.
We could save energy and also the environment.
There is about 50 billion of sewage that flow each year .

Finally recycling helps protect the environment.

Recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions,
which helps to tackle the climate change which helps the environment.
Which can make the environment not safe for people as they might get sick.
We should recycle so we don't wreck the environment and we save our lives. 

I fully convinced that cycling is a must because the earth is dying and
WE NEED TO HELP! 

Street Map

Today in maths me and my group had to make a Street map . In our Map we had to make streets and houses that were perpendicular and parallel plus more . We had to put houses and buildings which were different shapes . Have you ever made a Street map ? If you haven't its very fun and you also can colour the map in which makes it look much better .

Jake Bailey

Today we had Jake Bailey come into our school and give us a speech about his cancer if you done know who Jake Bailey is you can search him up and find his book . You might like to read his book too. He came into our school and said a lot of stuff about his process in cancer and how he wasn't very scared at the start of his cancer but more grateful that they knew what was wrong with him!

My speech

This and last term we had to do our speeches for 2019 I did my speech on Gymnastics . I did my speech on gymnastics because it is a sport I like to do and I know a lot about . You can chose anything you want to do your speech on and you may do it . If you are going to do a speech make sure your speech doesn't go for to long and isn't boring . I hope you like my speech !

Pest Invasions

This week in reading we have been reading a text about how many years ago people brought stoats into New Zealand thinking it would get rid of the Rabbits but it just made another problem . The problem was that the stoats were eating the native animals like birds, and the birds eggs etc. Here is my opinion continuum about this issue.


I think that they should have thought before bringing the Stoats into New Zealand because they may have found something better to replace the stoats with.  
I think that the stoats are the pests because they were killing the native animals and are not good for the environment .

Thinking Hats

This week we had to read a book about pests and this is another one of the tasks we had to do . 
I think that this task was pretty easy and is good to teach you how to right answers to the questions they give you . 

Pests

This week we have been reading an article on how people bring in other animals into New Zealand and it has made a pest problem . They thought it was a good idea at the start and they thought that it would help the environment but it really didn't help anything . We had to complete this task by finding out what pest it was with footprints and other pictures and facts . We also had to put a couple of facts and some pictures about the pests .

This week we have been looking at where people speak Spanish in the world . Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world . I have made a map on most of some of the most popular places that speak Spanish .

This Week Was Our First week Of Prep And We Have Started Making And Designing What We Are Going to Make . On Thursday We Had The Mini Market Witch Is Where We Sell The Stuff We Have Made . On Friday Next Week We Will Have Big Market Witch Is Were We Sell Everything We Have Made And We Also Go And Spend Our Money That We Have Earn't From Making And Designing Stuff . What We Are making Are Jars And Dream Catchers We Have Made About 15 Jars And Sold Them Too . Next Week We Will Be Working Hard To make Our Dream Catchers And Our Jars .
